Sound healing is a powerful, yet gentle, holistic therapy that utilizes the sounds of different instruments, as well as vocal toning, to trigger a relaxation response within the autonomic nervous system. Tibetan singing bowls and/or tuning forks are played to create specific harmonizing or dissonant intervals to assist the body in relaxing and releasing energetic blockages.
Sound healing is both relaxing AND activating, so it also has a refreshing effect. It is a non-invasive, safe, and effective solution for muscle tension, chronic pain, stress, insomnia and many other physical, emotional, and mental health challenges.
Scientists know that human beings, and everything else in life, are composed of vibrational energy that is constantly changing. There are many things that can influence our energy for better or worse. Often people will listen to particular kinds of music to shift how they feel. For example, listening to calming music after a stressful day can help one to unwind and feel more relaxed. Another example would be listening to certain kinds of music to get “pumped up” to do a workout or play a sports game. Sound healing is similar in the way that it has the ability to get energy to settle and relax or to move and release.
Receiving a therapeutic sound session creates an overall balancing effect on the nervous system by helping the client shift into a meditative state. This is achieved by using specific frequencies from the instruments combined with Linny’s experience and ability to intuitively navigate what the client needs during a session. Her gentle approach enables healing to happen at a pace that is appropriate for the client.
A typical sound healing session lasts 45-60 minutes. The first session is 90 minutes long to allow time to review the client intake form, discuss particular health concerns, and share healing intentions. The client will remain fully clothed and may choose to lay on a massage table or sit comfortably in a chair for the sound healing session. Before any instruments are played, the client will be asked to become aware of their breath and focus on a healing intention for the sound session. Linny will then do an energy assessment to determine what vibrational frequencies are needed to restore balance and harmony. Instruments will then be played around the client. If appropriate, instruments such as tuning forks may also be placed on the body. Once the session is completed, a client will be in a state of deep relaxation. There will be time allowed to process and integrate. Sound healing recommendations or exercises may be given to the client to practice afterwards.
